ASPIRE

About ASPIRE

Aspire is a Social Enterprise which means our businesses are driven and trading for social and environmental purposes.

As with all businesses we compete for work but we are distinctive because our social purpose is central to what we do. All profits are reinvested to sustain and develop our mission for positive change. That’s why we’re in business

Aspire work with Jobcentre Plus, housing associations and Probation services to give work opportunities to people who are normally excluded from the job market. Amongst the more experienced staff, they employ people who have been homeless, affected by drugs, or who have been convicted of minor offences. These people are given training, support and respect and in return they commit to being the best gardeners, painters and window cleaners that anyone could hope to meet.

Pathways Covered

Education, training and employment

Overview

Our approach is to work with those who want to better themselves whatever their background. We exist to give job opportunities to people normally excluded from the job market.

Over 10 years we have built up expertise at recruiting those who are ready, able and motivated to succeed whatever their history. Our people come to us with a lack of experience, often with a record of unemployment, an offending or drug abusing history, or homelessness.

Through our work we help to develop more responsible citizens, build community cohesion, reduce re-offending, drug use and repeat homelessness. We help those who are committed at the core of their being to changing their lives for the better.

Our people are focused on their work and also keeping their lives moving forwards.

What we do

ASPIRE offer a range of volunteering, employment and apprenticeships to individuals from social disadvantaged backgrounds.

We work with  anumber of local business to offer a range of high quality professional services which we are always expanding, and which enable us to give real work experience and employment opportunities to people referred to us.

Now managed by Julian House, we have an even greater focus on working with offeners and supporting the reduction of reoffending in the local area.

Volunteering

We always have volunteering opportunities available in the following areas of work:

* gardening
* general labouring for property refurbishments
* litter picking
* painting and decorating
* house and garden clearance

Whilst we try to offer the specific area of interest, volunteers must be willing to occassionally complete other work as necessary.

Apprenticeships

ASPIRE offers apprenticeship opportunities through the year in various trades and areas of work. These are open to 16 - 24 year olds due to funding, however that said we wouldnt dicourage people outside of this age range to get in touch.

Opportunities we have offered and hope to offer in the future are:

* electrician
* painting and decorating
* tiling
* gardening
* window cleaning
* catering
* plumbing
* plastering
