Bristol Mind aims to promote a positive view of mental health and provide services that are accessible, relevant and empowering to the people using them. Our services aim to contribute to mental and emotional wellbeing and to reduce stigma and discrimination.

- an information and signposting service, by email (info@bristolmind.org.uk) and phone (0117 980 0370, 9:30am – 3:30pm, Monday to Friday)
- a wide range of advocacy services
- low cost counselling
- a free confidential emotional support helpline, Mindline, available 7pm to 11pm, Wednesday to Sunday (0808 808 0330 – please see www.bristolmind.org.uk/mindline for up to date opening hours)

- a national confidential emotional support helpline for trans+ and non-binary people, MindLine Trans+, open 8pm – Midnight, Mondays and Fridays (0300 330 5468)

Services we Provide

Overview

Bristol Mind is a mental health resource for people in Bristol and surrounding areas which promotes wellbeing and recovery,
provides a wide range of advocacy services,
delivers cutting edge training courses,
offers a confidential helpline most evenings including the weekend, and encourages recovery through volunteering.

What we do

Advocacy

Advocates are there to listen to you. You can talk things through with an independent person. They can also help you make other people listen to your opinion. They offer support and representations at meetings.

Outreach advocacy – advocates working in the community
In-patient advocacy - based on wards at Callington Road and Southmead Hospitals
Advocacy in prisons - in prisons and secure units
Independent Mental Capacity Advocacy (IMCA)

Signposting and Information

We signpost callers to other local services and can also provide information by post, over the phone or by email on different mental health topics.

There is an A-Z of information on the national Mind website where  information can be downloaded by individuals free of charge.


Mindline

A confidential freephone helpline giving a safe place to talk if you, or someone you know, is in distress. We can also give information about mental health and local services.

Bristol MindLine is here to support residents of Bristol and South Gloucestershire. If you live outside this area you can get information on support services closer to you from National Mind InfoLine on 08457 660 163 (Mon to Fri, 9.15am - 4.15pm).

Group Sessions

Mind deliver and support others to deliver a variety of sessions including:

  • Tranquiliser Support
  • Adults with ADHD
  • Self Injury
  • Hearing Voices
  • Social Anxiety

Where we do it

We deliver and support other organisations to deliver a variety of group works to support individuals who are suffering with a number of mental health concerns.

The administration team provide information and signposting.  They are available from 9am to 5pm on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday.
