CHANGES BRISTOL has been running peer support meetings in the City of Bristol for over 10 years and our expertise helps more and more people each year. Our meetings are safe places for people to come and talk about their feelings and to take steps toward improving their lives.

The meetings are non-judgemental and confidential and are free to access.

Due to Covid-19 Changes Bristol's peer-led support groups are now available online, and every precaution has been taken to keep the spaces safe, friendly and informal. The format is much the same as in the community, run by trained facilitators who hold the groups and ensure that everyone attending gets an opportunity to share where they're at, and contribute to the group

Our volunteers are also providing a phone befriending service for anyone who is unable or doesn't like the online groups.

If you'd like to be sent the links for the online meetings, or register for the befriending service, please complete the membership form at bit.ly/ChangesMember

Services we Provide

Overview

If you are suffering from any kind of mental distress, we are here to help you. Our aim is to give you the support you need to cope with your mental health problem, and also to help you to find the tools you need to help you get well again. We achieve this through the network of support groups we run across Bristol.

If you think you could benefit from attending one of our support groups, please come along; you are more than welcome to!

What we do

Support Groups

We run weekly meetings throughout the City of Bristol where we provide support for adults suffering from mental distress.

Our meetings are there to provide you with:

  • Guidance from our Steps to Recovery programme which has been specifically designed to help you recover from mental distress
  • Encouragement from a group of people who can share their insights and experience and who understand what you are going through
  • Support at a time when your belief in yourself and ability to cope with life may be at a low ebb

At our meetings we will help and encourage you to set goals for yourself so that you can start to make small but measurable steps towards being well again.

Where we do it

Our support meetings take place on a daily basis, so you can pick a meeting that is convenient for you. All our meetings happen at the same time and same venue every week except for Christmas week and Bank holidays. We currently have 4 meetings that run in the daytime and 3 meetings in the evening.
