Overview

If you need support with parenting or you think that your child
needs some help from children’s services in Bristol, you can phone First Response.

What we do

Anyone can ring First Response if they are concerned about a child or young person.

We are all responsible for the care and welfare of children

Are you a parent who needs support with a difficult issue, from your child’s behaviour to a problem related to domestic violence?

Are you a young person who needs to talk to someone about things that are worrying you?

If you are concerned about a child that is not yours you should also contact First Response Bristol to share your concerns.

First Response Bristol gives the right help, in the right place, at the right time. See the attached flyer for more information about the support available through First Response.

If the child is at immediate risk call the Police on 999. When our offices are closed call the Emergency Duty Team - 01454 615 165.

By contacting First Response, your call might result in:

• Information, advice and guidance being given about services to help families.
• A referral to the Early Help team who can provide support to children, young people and families.
• A safeguarding referral to a social work team.

Depending what the problem is, we can find the right solution by talking to the right people who know your child; people like teachers, youth workers, police, school nurses,
health visitors, doctors, etc.

Some of the organisation we refer to include: Barnardos, Better Together, Childrens Centres and the Family Intervention Team

Where we do it

The service is operated across the whole of Bristol.

You will not meet with the First Response team themseleves as all initial contact is made over the phone or email.

Once we have gathered all the information we need, we decide what organisation might be best to help you or the family you have called about with their needs. There will be support offered in your local community or within your house if needed.
