Somerset Drug and Alcohol Service treats young people and adults that have a problem with drugs and alcohol.

For those with a dependency or addiction, these services are designed to help reduce the harm that drugs and alcohol cause to the individual and those around them and ultimately achieve recovery from addiction and re-integration back into community life.

Services we Provide

Overview

SDAS also offers help and support for the children and families of individuals with substance misuse issues.

What we do

SDAS family focus interventions include

  •  behavourial couples therapy,
  • mutual aid groups; and
  • 5 step social/behavioural work with concerned others.

SDAP also commission HHYPE. http://www.somersetdap.org.uk/page/hhype/46/ 

HHYPE is a specific group programme for 12-15 year olds in Somerset who are affected by a parent, carer or older siblings or close family member’s alcohol or drug dependency.

We have 5 treatment hubs in Taunton, Bridgwater, Frome, Yeovil and Minehead (coming soon). We also have a health and wellbeing bus providing services across the County.

Overview

The Somerset Drug and Alcohol Service operates as a partnership created by three providers: Turning Point, CRI and DHI.

This service will aim to reach a broad spectrum of service users including new and emerging drug users, steroid users and borderline recreational/problematic drug and/or alcohol users, as well as those who are dependant on other substances, e.g. heroin or alcohol.

SDAS is designed to help reduce the harm that drugs and alcohol cause to the individual and those around them, and ultimately achieve recovery from addiction and re-integration back into community life.

What we do

  • Assertive Outreach into the community to engage hard to reach clients and new client groups.
  • Rapid re-engagement when people need additional support to stay in treatment.
  • Brief interventions.
  • Needle exchange.
  • Prescribing.
  • Inpatient and community detox.
  • Residential rehabilitation.
  • Psychosocial interventions.

Overview

SDAS also provides housing support for individuals engaged in treatment and/or recovery.

What we do

The Housing Support offered by Somerset Drug and Alcohol Service includes:

  • Supported Housing Accommodation for people who are being prescribed and for those who are abstinent.
  • Mediation/crisis intervention service.
  • Housing clinics both within SDAS and within the P2i and P4A services.

Where we do it

The Housing Clinics are being run from the 5 treatment hubs in Taunton, Bridgwater, Frome, Yeovil and Minehead (coming soon) and the P2i Hubs across Somerset.
