Supporting Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transsexual survivors of domestic violence and abuse

Next Link Domestic Abuse Services and the Diversity Trust are putting on a series of free one-day training events for the domestic violence and abuse sector throughout the Avon and Somerset.

They would like to invite those working in the area of domestic violence and abuse, interested in increasing access to Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transsexual (LGBT) communities, to attend the training.

 The course has the following objectives:

Explore the extent and impact of DVA against LGBT people;

  • Understand the importance of assessing and identifying LGBT victims and perpetrations in abusive relationships;
  • Identify barriers to reporting by LGBT survivors and address agencies’ difficulties in responding;
  • Work to good practice principles to mitigate barriers to help-seeking;
  • Explore available resources.
