Trauma and Recovery Event

Southmead Project – Trauma and Recovery
For 20 years the Southmead Project has provided therapeutic and practical support to families and individuals where abuse and trauma has had an impact. A one day event is being held to mark this milestone, explore the wider societal impacts of providing counselling services and support programmes for victims and survivors of abuse and to celebrate the success of the charity.
Those with a professional, community and/or personal interest in the support of victims and survivors of abuse and trauma* are especially encouraged to attend this free event.
The time: 11am - 4pm

- Lisa Armstrong and Sarah Burns (Southmead Project): Survivors’ experience of the impact of trauma and positive outcomes following appropriate interventions
- Paula McFadyen: Supporting the partners of survivors of sexual abuse
- Pat Johnson: Working therapeutically with the survivors of childhood sexual abuse
- Chaired panel debate
Topic: The impact of child abuse and trauma - responding to the needs of survivors
The panel consisting of Kerry McCarthy MP, Charlotte Leslie MP, Marvin Rees, Ian McFadyen, Ellen Devine and Dr Mike Peirce MBE will field questions invited from the floor
· Summary
Charity Patron Geoff Gollop OBE will round off proceedings summarising the day
Open access information/stall area
Networking opportunities staffed by local service providers and organisations, members of the corporate sector and the Police.
Special attraction
Starting the proceedings at 9.00am will be a Zumbathon® charity event with floor director Celena Lewis hoping to raise money for the work of the Southmead Project
