Emergency Help & Advice
For many individuals sleeping rough, having somewhere to go to get hot food and clean clothes is essential. Many of these services are delivered through charities and day centres especially set up to help those who are rough sleeping.
Day Centres and Support for Rough Sleepers
Most day centres for Rough Sleepers are open access and many combine this with more structured support particularly focusing on individuals who are homeless or roughsleeping but also supporting those with chaotic and unstable accommodation.
Day centres offer welcome restbite and access to essential services which may include things like: hot breakfast and lunch, showers, laundry, clothing, a quiet room, hairdressing, GPs, dental care, a mental health team, podiatrist, optician, pastoral care, befriending. They also often provide advice on how to access: night shelters, hostels, benefits, identification documents, form filling, debt counselling, entitlements, finding appropriate help.
