A Sanctuary for those heading toward crisis
Added: 12 August 2015
Bristol Sanctuary is an innovative service that opened in April 2015 and is managed by charity St Mungo's Broadway. It's a place which feels safe, comfortable and welcoming where people who are experiencing severe emotional distress can go for help out of normal working hours.
While at the Sanctuary, people are able to relax and choose what they want to do. They may want to be in a quiet space, chat to others or talk one to one with a support worker. They may want to have some complementary therapies or cook and share food, to read or simply rest.
The Sanctuary is a comfortable, safe place to come when you feel you cannot cope. It is open to anyone who is in distress or caring for someone who is in distress.
The address is 1 New Street, St Jude's, Bristol, BS2 9DX
The service is open when it is most likely to be needed, which is on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday nights from 7pm to 2am and they aim to support 10-12 people per day.
Access is prioritised through a telephone assessment and triage system. The first step is to call 0117 9542952. People are offered a taxi home, if needed. You can also contact by email: [email protected]
