Its Never Too Late to Talk

Added: 15 August 2014

Somerset and Avon Rape and Sexual Abuse Support (SARSAS) have launched a Twitter and Facebook campaign to encourage survivors of rape and sexual abuse to seek support, regardless of how long ago it happened.

‘It’s never too late to talk’ is encouraging local people and groups to share a selection of prepared images and statements (attached below) on social media sites between now and 15 August. They hope this will help to raise awareness of the fact that many women never tell anyone, and to break the silence for women who think it’s too late to seek support.

Its estimated that 28-40% of people who have experienced rape and sexual abuse never tell anyone. The number of calls and emails to SARSAS has quadrupled over the last six months. A lot of women are deciding to break their silence because of the exposure of abuse currently in the media and support from the general public for survivors. SARSAS want to keep this momento going and tell more women that it’s never too late.

If you have any questions, or want more information about the campaign, you can email rachaelbloomer@sarsas.org.uk or lisabenjamin@sarsas.org.uk or call 0117 929 9556.
