Accommodation

Overview

HOME Nightstop offers a young person, aged 18-24 yrs who is homeless, a safe, supportive place to stay in an approved volunteer host's home for the night with an evening meal, breakfast and access to wash facilities. Our staff assists the young person as they explore their housing options or support them to return to the family home. A young person can stay for 1 to 7 nights giving them the opportunity to look for appropriate housing.

What we do

The aim of the project is to reduce the numbers of young people that are homeless in North Somerset by providing a safer short term alternative to rough sleeping and specialist intervention at the earliest stage. Nightstop North Somerset is a preventative project that keeps these vulnerable young people away from the streets and unsuitable accommodation. It provides a safety net to stop the young person falling down the poverty spiral and away from the problems that are associated with long term homelessness such as mental and physical ill health, drugs and alcohol addiction and crime and prostitution. Placements are offered in the home of volunteer host families? By offering a place in their home volunteer hosts provide a unique opportunity to young people to stay at a time of crisis. Their kindness and generosity may have a profound and lasting impact on some of the young people. The volunteer hosts are people from all back grounds who have an occasional spare room. They offer the young person an evening meal, room of their own for the night, breakfast and when necessary a listening ear. Young people stay on a night by night basis as and when volunteer hosts are available. Nightstop placements are available for between 1-7 nights.

Where we do it

Nightstop placements are offered across North Somerset, however placement availability and locality depends on the number of volunteer host families we have and where they are located.
