North Bristol Advice Centre employs 18 staff and 11 volunteers, delivering information, advice and a range of community projects with the needs of our clients and local communities at the heart of all we do.
What we do
Debt Advice
Our specialist Debt Advisers can do the following:
- Explain your options for dealing with debt to you.
- Contact your creditors for you.
- Stop or help manage enforcement action by creditors – eviction,bailiffs,court action etc.
- Check that you are getting the right income or benefits.
- Explain which debts are most important.
- Complete a financial statement with you.
- Talk to you about Money Management.
- Debt Relief Order (DRO) Applications
All our advice is free, confidential and non-judgemental
Welfare Benefits Advice
If you are having problems with welfare benefits, we can help you.
- We can check that you are getting all the benefits you are entitled to.
- We can advise you on how to appeala benefit decision or ask for it to be looked at again.

- Help to set a household budget that works for you

The scheme is open to first-time social housing tenants over 25, or social housing tenants over 25 who are moving into or out of work.
Where we do it
Debt Drop In
Lockleaze Office: Thursday mornings from 9:30am-12:30pm
Shirehampton Health Centre: Tuesday mornings from 9.30 - 12.00 pm. No appointment is needed, just come along on the day and you can speak to one of our Specialist Debt Advisers/DRO Intermediaries.
Welfare and benefits advice
We hold weekly Drop-In sessions at our Lockleaze office and at outreach centres across North Bristol and South Gloucestershire. No appointment is needed, just come along on the day and you will be able to speak to a specialist Welfare Benefits Adviser.
Pennywise Project
A "Money Mentor" will be based at North Bristol Advice Centre's Lockleaze office.

Our intitial advice sessions are drop in only, we do not offer appointments to new clients or previous client who are not currently in the process of receiving advice from us.
