Services we Provide

Overview

South Somerset Mind provides a range of services to support the recovery of those living in the local community and surrounding villages who are suffering from mental health distress.

What we do

We offer a range of help and support including:

Community Day - A user led community day which takes place every Wednesday 9.30am-3.30pm at the Methodist Church, Yeovil. The day provides access to activities and the opportunity to engage socially with other people. A support worker is also available on the day to offer emotional support and information regarding our services plus signposting to other agencies and services.

Themed Drop-Ins - 1st & 3rd Tuesday of each month from 10-1pm. The sessions are delivered in partnership with the local authority, local housing association and other organisations.

A range of one to one appointments are available, providing direct access to valuable and correct advice. The sessions are aimed at people who have poor mental and physical health, and who may be vulnerable and feel unable to seek advice elsewhere. They will be able to access the help, advice and support provided in an informal setting whilst being supported by a Mind staff member.

Emotional Outreach Project – A new project funded by The Big Lottery grant scheme. This project provides weekly drop-ins providing support, information and advice, life skills classes, wellbeing activities and we can arrange visits to you in your home or community (if you are unable to access the drop-ins) in order to improve the levels of physical and mental well-being in people, decrease the numbers of people with mental health issues feeling socially isolated who are living in a rural area and improving confidence and life skills.

Referral Service - which includes a range of wellbeing activities to aid recovery.

Somerset Partnership Talking Therapies as part of the new county wide service for people with anxiety and depression.

Vanessa Project - Free weekly horticultural therapy service to help those going through psychological stress experience the joys and rewards of gardening.

The Vanessa Project won a few awards since starting, including a gold for "Best Kept Allotment" with Yeovil by South West  Bloom and an award from the RHS for community gardens.
Every Monday, 10am until 12:30pm. No experience is necessary, only appropriate footwear.  For more information about the Vanessa Project click Here.
