Overview
The Wellbeing Service is based at the Compass Centre in Jamaica Street - where St Mungo's already manages recovery and skills and employment opportunities for homeless people - in partnership with Second Step, a leading provider of mental health support and housing services in the south west.
What we do
The Wellbeing Service provides mental health support at a primary care level. Staff include a clinical manager, a psychologist, and engagement and assessment workers.
The hope is to also attract volunteers from among those who've experienced homelessness and can offer first-hand support, as well as student psychologists and others keen to support people with mental health problems affecting their home situation.
The Compass Centre provides:
- Health centre with a GP service
- Mental health support workers
We manage services that are part of the city's Bristol Mental Healthpartnership services. These are:
- Assertive Contact and Engagement Service - supporting people to access mental health services. Contact ACE on 0117 239 8969 (Mon-Fri, 8am-8pm).
- Bristol Mens Crisis House - for men experiencing mental health problems where hospital admission might be the only other alternative available. Contact 0117 934 9848.
- The Sanctuary - a new service open Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday nights from 7pm to 2am, with access through a telephone assessment and triage system. The first step is to call 0117 9542952.

We manage a mix of hostels and supported houses, including some women only services. Stays can last for weeks or even maybe months, before moving on into longer term accommodation when appropriate.
