Positive Step Caring for Carers

Added: 10 December 2014

What is Positive Step?

Positive Step is provided by North Somerset Primary Care Trust helping adults (from aged 16 plus). We provide quick and easy access to CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy).

We provide a wide range of 1:1 and group work treatments for a range of needs includeing:

* anxiety
* depression
* bereavement
* stress and mood management
* preparing for change
* managing long term pain
* self esteem

What is CBT?

CBT can help you to manage your problems by changing the way you think and behave. Unlike other treatments is focuses on your current problems rather than focusing on issues from the past. It looks at practical ways to improve your state of mind.

CBT helps you to make sense of problems by breaking them down into smaller parts.

Carers Workshops

As a carer you may like to access a series of workshops based on CBT but especially created with you in mind.

Workshops will cover various topics such as:

* keeping your psirits up
* improving how you feel about yourself
* coping with change

Workshops are partly educational and partly therapuetic and will give you a chance to share your concerns and experiences with other carers.

You can attend one workshop or all of them....what ever you would prefer.

If after attending the sessions, you feel things havent improved for you, you can access some individual CBT sessions.

Follow On Work
